The Player - A Film in Three Minutes
OK, here's my review, 25 words or less: If you're looking for a wry, satirical, murder-mystery, self-aware comedy about...the movies then look no further than Robert Altman's masterpiece The Player!
Starring Tim Robbins, Greta Scacchi, Fred Ward and about half of Hollywood. Cinematography by Jean Lépine, music by Thomas Newman.

Ed Harris was the best gangster I seen on film
I think the term golden egg was referred to the fire from the lighter(there is also a dialogue about it) and the second egg might have been referred to Rex trying to attain the same fate as Sasika. Anyways a true masterpiece.
Charlie had it coming
Chilling movie. But it should be mentioned that practically all of the dialog is made up. The minutes of the meeting only dealt with generalities. And even those were highly modified by Heydrich. Also, every single word away from the table is complete fiction. Simply invented by the writer(s). A German TV movie version of the same meeting ('The Wannsee Conference' from 1984) is almost totally different. Though - of course - the horrific basics of the Holocaust are the same. ☮
Fantastic film. Saw it this weekend for the first time in years, and I can't get it out of my head. Hauntingly beautiful.
love this movie ❤
Plot twist: human compost ruins tomatoes. They taste like outhouses smell.
Nastassja ❤
I thought this movie was originally titled “The Big Carnival.” That was what it was called when I first saw it on TV.
welcome back mr still smilling. i think your videos are great
Thank you kindly, that means a lot! :-)
Great video! I may have only heard of this movie by title. Very intrigued now. Thanks!
You should have said "Paddy Chayefsky's masterpiece Network".
I recall seeing this movie and thinking it was pretty good. If I remember right it consists of her going 4 times in 4 separate directions.
I watched this movie a couple of years ago, and I've never been able to get it off my head. Almodóvar made a perpetual bedazzled masterpiece.
This is an excellent movie although my favorite István Szabó film is "Confidence" from 1980. He was an underrated filmmaker, made some great epics.
I must give it a watch, thank you!
I’ve been to Paris, Texas. It doesn’t look anything like that.
Look up some Google Images. It’s a nice little town.
I should've pointed out that we never see Paris, Texas in the film at all, except for that photograph...or were you referring to that?
@@MrStillSmilingNo, I’ve been aware of the movie since it came out, and I’m a fan of Harry Dean Stanton, but I’ve never actually seen the movie. Your description indicates that the story takes place elsewhere, but I’ve always been amused at the idea Paris TX is in a desert somewhere. It’s not. Sam Shepard is a good writer and Natasha Kinski is beautiful. When I have an opportunity I’ll watch the movie. I was raising little kids in the early 80’s and getting out to see a movie was difficult and expensive. My ex preferred trash anyway. Seeing a movie like this was a non starter with her, but I was aware of it at the time.
We're back!!!
Acting Masterclass!!!
Great to see you back! Another film to add to my ever growing list 😂.
Good to have you back Seriosuly got "into" film because of your channel and was worried about the gap (albeit accepting life is a thing!)
Thank you for the support! My apologies for the overlong delay, life indeed got busy but I'm hoping to put out more videos very soon!
I figured she was a prescient telekinetic. She could analyze the future of multiple scenarios and alter physical reality.
🎀👍. Earth solved. 🔺📿🔻🫡🙏
I was an extra in this.. one of the maddest, fun, then tiring nights of my young life. :)) Party scene…
This turned out to be a huge stain on Chicago and it's baseball fans.
winning 🏆
I think a key point to all this is that, apart from the genuine psychopaths like Heydrich, these guys for the most part believed they were good, and that it was a good thing to exterminate the people they targeted. Think of it this way - most of us (myself included) believe that certain people, for example r*pists, deserve death and/or any of the other horrible things done during the Holocaust. And unless you are a person who truly and wholeheartedly believes that absolutely no human being deserves to suffer and die, I think you need to accept that it is possible for you to be persuaded, given the right circumstances, that any other person or group of people should be made to suffer and die.
I watched the German movie related to the conference yesterday. Now I'm even more interested in watching this version.
Great movie
A girl fighting for the man she loves? A rare theme indeed
Your review sucks.
When I saw Possession I was certain it was a very dark absurdist comedy. Its confusing to me that no one else seems to see it that way.
Even better summary is the original screenplay, Return of the Secaucus Seven.
It'd be great if this was the movie they show in Spirt Airlines
Every time I see a bowl of gazpacho I think of this film.
Just watched it and damn that king's speech was dope.
Watched this movie years ago and it stuck with me ,it was so brilliantly done...
Don’t forget Gordon is portrayed by Denis Lawson, aka Wedge Antilles from Star Wars.
@1:27 "...minutes taken during the meeting". So, who has been taking minutes during that meeting? Who signed them and ascertained their veracity? I'll wait here.
It has one ticker: GME
this is dieselpunk you fool, not steampunk. They are in WW2 esthetic in iron clad vehicles man!
The movie is basically a rip off with an added lame agenda.
what did it rip off?>
Well, I hope the guy was worth all the effort.
I watched dis movie around 2002 in dvd player i dont know y they said its 2008😅🤔🤔🧐🧐
Hi there 👋 i don't know y they said this movie filming 2008 i was really wonder y i already watch dis movie around 2002?? 🤔🤔🧐🧐 I swear I've already watch dis movie before 2008...in DVD player 😅 pls... Someone can answer me 😅? Tnx
YOU FAIL TO MENTION GOD; YES, GOD.
I love this series. Guiraudie has a new movie that just opened at Cannes and is getting great reviews. Can’t wait to see it.
“You can’t fight in here; this is the War Room” my favorite quote there
This movie is bogus. McCarthy was a great man who tried to expose the communist influence in government.
I wonder when will we see a movie about the israelies plan to get rid of palestinians. Since we are talking about nazis, that is...
Fuck the movie, just read the book! Please don't watch that movie. I haven't quite pinned down the meaning of the book, but the movie entirely missed it.
